Bette Midler will take the Oscar stage for the first time ever next month as a performer.

Organizers for this year's Academy Awards say they're thrilled to have the two-time Oscar nominee on board for the festivities, adding their belief that she will make the Oscar telecast "an especially moving evening."

Midler previously released Oscar nominations for Actress in a Leading Role for For The Boys and The Rose.  Last year she portrayed late Hollywood agent Sue Mengers in the hit Broadway production I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers.

The 86th Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, March 2nd with Ellen DeGeneres as host.  ABC will televise the event live from coast to coast.
