Carrie Underwood Admits She Was 'Mad' At God After Three Miscarriages

Carrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, are opening up about their personal life like never before in a new video series, Mike and Carrie: God & Country. In the second episode of the series, titled "The Wrestle," the couple gets emotional as they discuss the three miscarriages they suffered while trying to start a family.

After Underwood and Fisher had their now-5-year-old-son, Isaiah, they tried to have a second child. The singer got pregnant quickly, but then had her first miscarriage.

"It sounds wrong when you say it, but, it's one of those 'bad things that happen to other people,' you know what I mean?" Underwood said as tears weld up in her eyes. "It's not something that you ever envision yourself having to deal with."

They tried again, but she eventually suffered another miscarriage months into the pregnancy. Following their second loss, Underwood says her husband was convinced they would eventually have another son and they would name him Jacob.

"I was frustrated, we had two miscarriages," Fisher said as he explained. "What's the future look like, we don't know. Are we going to adopt, are we going to... going through things in your mind. I was just wrestling and probably the most honest I'd been with God. And I heard, not audibly, but I sensed that God told me that we were going to have a son, and his name's Jacob."

"Not much longer, we were pregnant, and we lose another baby," he said, adding that Underwood went up to him and said, "Where is he?"

When they tried again for the fourth time, Underwood recalls a moment she felt like she had yet another miscarriage.

"I had an honest conversation with God, and I told him how I felt. I was hurt. I was a little angry and, of course, you feel guilty for being mad at your creator," Underwood admits. "And I told him we needed something. We needed to have a baby or not, ever, because I couldn't keep going down that road anymore."

Underwood's fears were put to rest as the couple eventually welcomed their second child, Jacob on January 21, 2019.

Mike and Carrie: God & Country is a video series for the non-profit, I Am Second. The four-part series offers fans a look into the couple's personal lives as they discuss some of the most challenging moments they've had to overcome together.
