Hey Latin lovers! It's K Marie, a white girl in a Hispanic world. Did you get a chance to watch the 'Latin American Music Awards' on Thursday night? Let's be honest, maybe you didn't know how to watch it because you didn't know how to find the channel for Telemundo. I get it, before I spoke Spanish, I was lost trying to find Latin content and shows. Either way, let me tell you, the Latin AMAS were incredible! It took place at the BB&T in Sunrise Florida and was full of must see moments. Don't worry, I will catch you up to speed on what went down. My coworker Fer Rojas and I had the opportunity to cover the carpet! FYI everyone got tested before attending and were also very strict about our masks (see photo below lol). At least they gave us cool ones with their logo on it.
Let's first start off with the hosts of the night! Gaby Espino who is a gorgeous novela actress and tv host, alongside the gorgeous actor William Levy. You have probably seen him in some English films or shows playing some smaller roles, or feel free to also YouTube "Im Into You" music video by JLO. You're welcome in advance lol. But seriously, is this real life? Look at their faces.
Previous to the show, of course all the artists and guests walked the beautiful carpet. So many amazing people there including Nicky Jam, Anitta, Yandel, Carlos Vives, and more! Here were my top 3 looks on the carpet.
This is Manuel Turizo, he is a Colombian singer known for his deep mature voice even though he legit just turned 21. He was literally walking on cloud 9.
This was Myke Towers, he is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter who lets just say was in about just EVERY song in 2020. He looks simple, but still stylish.
And Jowell Y Randy, I mean, they were aliens. Jowell y Randy are a Puerto Rican duo that were one of the pioneers in the reggaeton movement. They are known for their crazy and fun personalities, and this is exactly why I loved this look even though it was fairly creepy because it looked so real in person.
On to my top 3 performances of the night! Nicky Jam has to be up there, he never does anything crazy on stage, but he is always consistently amazing. If you want to get to know more about him I suggest to watch the docuseries about his life on NETFLIX called "El Ganador."
And for the best MOMENT of the night, it has to be when Ozuna was receiving the 'Extraordinary Evolution Award' and his mom brought it to him. It seemed as if he was truly surprised and had no idea. He broke out in tears and continued to thank his family and musical friends for believing in him.
And that is a wrap! Hope this helped get you up to speed on all the Latin AMAS. These Latin award shows really bring the heat!
