Police Officer Matt Cooper Rises Up As Honorary Captain For Falcons

It was Labor Day last year when tragedy struck for Covington Officer Matt Cooper and it was just over a year later he stood up with his favorite NFL team as Honorary Captain.

Cooper responded to a shop lifting in progress last year and was shot in the head by the suspect. He came within inches of losing his life. The past year has been a hard struggle but he was very honored when the Atlanta Falcons asked him to come Rise up with the team and stand on the field as Honorary Captain, when they played the Eagles.

Cooper recently ran in the departments annual "fuzz run" as well and has come a very long way since his horrific injury last year. He got to stand at the 50-yard line for the Falcons' game on Sunday with the teams captains and watch the coin toss. So cool to see and so happy he's making an amazing recovery! #BackTheBlue

He must've been a bit of good luck too, as the Falcons won the game with a last minute touchdown by Julio Jones on 4th and 3. (WSB)
