3 Ways to Prevent Freezer Burnt Ice Cream

If you've got freezer burnt ice cream, you're either not eating it fast enough, or you're making one of these mistakes.

It happens when you thaw and refreeze something too many times. The part that melts turns to ice crystals.

The best way to avoid it is to eat your ice cream faster. But here are some other things that can help prevent freezer burnt ice cream...

1.  Store it in the coldest part of the freezer. Keep it in back, never on the door. Bonus: It doubles as a good hiding spot, so family members don't eat it.

2.  Serve it quickly. Don't leave it out on the counter to soften up. Run the spoon under hot water instead. In general, you want to get the pint back in the freezer as fast as possible.

3.  Store the carton upside down. Freezer burn is more likely when air gets in. Flipping the carton upside down can help prevent it.
