12-Year-Old Girl Escapes Kidnapping

A quick-thinking 12-year-old girl used her cell phone to call police after the car she was in was stolen from a strip mall parking lot.

In Seymour, Indiana on February 19, the girl was waiting in the car while her mom shopped.

That's when 28-year-old Shawana Lucas allegedly jumped into the car and took off.

When the girl called 911 to report the car was stolen, Lucas tried to grab the phone out of the girl's hand.

Luckily, the girl was able to call out landmarks to help police identify their location.

Police caught up with the car almost 20 miles away from the strip mall and Lucas was arrested.

No one was injured and police are still looking for a motive.
